This is one of the best playgrounds. My kids love the huge hammock, the walkways, the numerous slides and the sandpit. We often catch the train to the city just to come here, its a cheap and fun day out with the kids. Its spread out over a fairly large area so you have to watch the younger kids or else you lose sight of them.

Birrarung Marr is well worth a trip into the city to visit. This colourful playground has a great network of decking to run across, slides to zip down and rope structures to clamber up. There's a climbing wall, hammocks, sand, and swings, including a liberty swing for wheelchairs.

It's impossible to describe just how impressive this playground is. Best to go and visit it!

Newcomers to Melbourne should also take in a walk along the Yarra River, a visit to the Artplay building and grab some good food at Federation Square. If you have any energy left then admire some Australian art at the Ian Potter Centre Art Gallery.
