Easy to find on the Main Street along the foreshore. Playground is best suited for ages 1-10. It has steps up to the main fort for non climbers to access, and most of the equipment is suitable height / safety for toddlers and for a parent's reach. The surface is rubber matting squares and there is also a sandpit. The main part of the playground is fenced although ungated. There are swings and a second, taller slide in an unfenced space close by. The playground is under a shade structure.
The foreshore has benches and grass, with a small drop to the shoreline/water. There is a bbq under shelter a little ways along from the playground, still in the park. There are no toilets in the park. The closest public toilets are across the road inside the information centre (open til 5 pm). Outside the centre's hours, cross the road and walk through the Fisheries building walkway up to the next street where there are good condition public toilets at the Town Hall.
Being on the Main Street, there are a number of businesses close by to provide coffee or snacks.
In October 2016 this playground was upgraded to include a fantastic Nautical themed play facility. It has a recycled jetty timber pirate ship, kids can climb atop the Lighthouse and look out over the Bay or simply bang out a tune on the interactive musical constructs. It sits between the beach and Shark Bay shops.
