Great playground. Large shade cloth over fort with slide. Shady picnic spot. Undercover BBQ area. Parents area only accessible in ladies toilets, which didn't help dad :(

The extremely long slide is great for the brave and there are other smaller pieces of equipment in the shade. Plenty of parking, toilets and shade. Persevere with the boardwalk because if it's dry in summer you can still walk to, and around, the lake which is fantastic.

Nhill has a fantastic and original playground. This is one of the larger playgrounds and definitely has the longest slippery dip that I have seen. There are plenty of shady trees, and equipment for different ages. There is also a nice walking track and bridge. This playground is a a "must stop" for trips between Melbourne and Adelaide with young kids.

Nhill is roughly halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide and a great place for a stop. If you, like we did, are planning the drive in one day, then you'll be here in the middle of the day when it's pretty hot. Happily there is a lot of tree shade throughout the park and covered barbecues and picnic tables.
In fact, the park is just gorgeous; truly pretty Australian bush. The play equipment is dotted about under the gums and includes a see-saw, basic monkey bars, a little wooden climbing frame, clatter bridge, slide and spring rider.
Behind the playground area is the Nhill Swamp Wildlife Reserve, and I don't think I've seen a more parched piece of land for a long time. A boardwalk leads out over the 'swamp' if you'd like a closer look at the cracks in the ground. It really is very pretty country.
