Recently upgraded this reserve gained a nice new playground. With a flying fox a couple of slides and a truck theme (fitting with the nearby freeway) this playground is a great addition to the area.

The park has great new paths for bikes and waking, heaps of new trees and a new clubroom for the baseball.

Ono of the great things about this playground is that it adjoins a big dog off-leash park, so our dogs can have a run whilst the kids play. There Is a water fountain with dog water bowl - great for the dogs, not so great for preserving the dryness of kids clothing - they love to play in It! There is a picnjc table but no shade cloth. There are also cricket practice areas nearby, and hockey fields and my son loves to watch them practice. There's plenty of room around the play equipment, and hillocks and boulders for the kids to play on. Not so great for younger kids like crawlers and young toddlers because the climbing frame is pretty high and not well fenced. Easy for wobbly toddlers to topple from the suspension bridge, for example, and lots of ungated space at the top of the tower, with no way for a parent to cover each side effectively to prevent a fall. The slide is also quite steep for a little one. Once they become more confident and safer walkers though, it's fun for them. They love the tunnels. The biggest downside of this playground is that there are not usually many children here to play with. The much bigger playground at Cruickshank Park is about 10 min away and often swarming with children, and it also has shade. But with the dogs off leashe, McIvor Reserve is often our pic.
