Welcome to Fear Factor - a special slide which starts from a hill with a huge Pirate Ship and is frighteningly steep! The slide has had a controversial history because apparently it caused a few broken legs. Since that time it has been modified but care needs to be taken. The slide is restricted to older children and teenagers of height more than 1.28m and the area is also under video surveillance. Sitting at the top of the slide certainly causes some fear and trepidation because the slide is so steep and long. Even though it is a fast ride down, the actual ride is not too scary although there is a certain amount of flailing arms and legs at the bottom.
The pirate ship has a crows nest on the top deck as well as a fireman's pole and binoculars for taking in the great view over the newly built housing estate. On the lower deck inside the ship is an abacus and metal bars with a clapper for making raucous and deafening "music". There is also a tunnel, climbing wall, rope ladders and wide slide. There are a few unshaded seats at the top of the hill.Located around the base of the hill are a large rope climbing frame, birds nest swing and covered sandpit with mechanical scoop.Shelter with tables, BBQs and water tap. Also shaded and unshaded tables and seats - the tables even have a maze embedded into the top. Basketball court. The playground is best suited to older kids and offers great adventure for them. This playground is not operated by the council.
