Edited Jan 2014: This is a lovely playground nestled under a stand of gum trees. The park itself is large, with the playground sited near the carpark off Main Road.

The playground is now hugely impressive since being upgraded in late 2013. Gracing the park are several stunning sculptures by local artist Leigh Conkie: a 3m platypus, a wonderful lumpy throne and a stunning owl all carved by chainsaw.

Adding to the artistic nature of the park are a number of sound sculptures by Herbert Jercher. I just love his work. There are squeaky tyres, musical decking balls on a zig-zagging balance beam, a sonic bollard and a xylotapophone (I think! - the names are as individual as the pieces). These will appeal to the adults as much as the kids.

A Kompan supernova has been added along with a huge spring see-saw and a bird's nest swing. There are four regular swings and a multi-play unit with tunnel, slide, clatter bridge, pommels, monkey bars and small climbing wall.

There is a rubber turf path that weaves through the playground, however it is very much covered by woodchips, which is the dominant softfall.

There is a small wetlands lake closer towards Main Road, so don't let runners take off too far as it's not fenced.

There are public toilets (albeit a bit yuk), a barbecue and plenty of seats and tables dotted about the place.

On the weekend you might be lucky enough to come across a tai chi group or even a laughing group using the lovely parklands.

Great park! Been 3 times in the last month, so its now our fave but certainly not our closest. It's right near the library (great to go before/after kiddie reading session), is a short walk from train station, plenty of nearby parking, a good cafe next to library. Has a duck pond, and toilet block was quite good compared to what I've seen in other parks. The playground itself is excellent (my kids are 18mths & 3.5 yrs). Very little danger if I just let them run - not too many danger things for my younger one and plenty of things to hold his interest at ground level... love all the little musical things... very unique.

Unfenced playground and park, close to Eltham Library (their Story Time is great and it's a pretty good inside space for rainy/hot days).
Public toilets or use the toilets in the Library.
Parking near the park.

Nearby Cafes: Shillinglaw Cafe - has outdoor semi shaded area for play and
coffee/supervision, the Teapot cafe (attached to the Library). Others in Eltham or
Montmorency.
