McArthur Street Playground

This marvellous playground is a rare breed: it is fully fenced, has built roof shade as well as tree shade, has a barbecue and drinking fountain, picnic tables and chairs, and wonderful play equipment for the kids.

There is so much to keep children occupied here, from the classic slides, swings and parallel bars, to the kaleidoscopic spinners, stepping stones, walking beam and tractor to 'drive'.

The tables are close to the play equipment so carers can have a cuppa at the table while being within sight and yelling distance of the kids.

The structure is also quite accessible for wheelchairs, with a path leading from the street straight to the base of a ramp that leads up to the top decking and around to a continuation of the walking path.

The only drawback is the lack of public toilets; however, I'd hazzard a guess that desperate parents might be able to duck next door to the maternal and child health centre to use the facilities (but don't quote me on that!).
