The recently refurbished Arboretum playground has a great mix of activities - plenty of little slides, swings, climbing and balancing activities for toddlers, and a climbing web, flying fox and roundabout for older children. The flying fox and roundabout are unusual features and a highlight of this park!

There's lots of room to run inside the fenced playground area - activities are well spaced and the playground is large. The day we went was quite busy, and then a busload of vacation care kids turned up and the park still didn't seem crowded.

Outside the fenced area is beautifully maintained Arboretum and parkland, with an amphitheatre, secret garden, lakes and wildlife. There's BBQs and plenty of tables and shade in the Arboretum area.

There's not really enough parking near the playground for a busy day, but there is more on the other side of the Arboretum park on Francis St. While the trees to the side provide plenty of shade on the playground in Winter, with the sun overhead in Summer there would be little to no shade in the playground area itself, so sunscreen would be a must. There's still plenty of shade for Summer in the rest of the parkland though.

This playground is definitely worth a visit!

What a great park with good facilities. Unfortunately no shade in the park itself, but great none the less.

FANTASTIC park for all ages. Great that it's fully fenced but it AMAZES me how many adults let children that are not their own out of the gates without their parent or guardian. PLEASE BE A BIT MORE RESPONSIBLE.

The playground area is fully fenced so that you can relax a little in the knowledge that it is unlikely that your child will be able to escape into danger. However, it is a very large area, and you still need to actively supervise your child - they could nip out when someone else opens a gate for instance.

There is a great range of activities for different age groups.

Some of the 'decor' is beginning to look a bit battered, but the actual equipment is in great condition. The only thing I have a real problem with is the slides - stainless steel! Even in the winter sun they can burn you! Absolutely ridiculous.

With all the great reviews I decided to check it out. It is a well spaced out area and fairly large. The slides are average and I agree about the comment re the material used for the slides. Plenty of cigarette buts on the ground was a big turn off. Compared to Lilydale lake park or Montrose this is a pretty average playground.

I though there is a poor use of space for such a large area. The only playground equipment for toddlers is swings, slides and a sandpit. Nothing for them to run and climb on, such as a fort. Other than that there is a flying fox, which is only suitable for older kids and a climbing dome, which is not suitable for toddlers. Overall I found this park disappointing.

The park and play equipment is fantastic, however when they say the park is for toddlers, it is really aimed at those with great balance and lots of confidence to compete with older children.
Early morning visits are best for toddlers as it can get very busy and there is a lot of bustle. Also due to metal slides that get very warm.
