Absolutely L-O-V-E this playground.

It's actually two playgrounds...one is a part of Aa Bailey Recreation Ground, and the other is more correctly the Hessian Avenue Reserve, but they seem to be one large playground when you are there.

The Hessian Avenue Reserve is a fenced and gated playground. It contains a long wavy path, including a little bridge, which is good for toddlers and their trikes.

It also has a large play structure that is shaped like a pirate ship, along with steering wheels, steps on the front "hull" and a pirate mast to enable great pirate imagination play.

A steep slide (maybe hot in summer though?) and a firemans pole included, so smaller toddlers must be supervised well from the second level.

Also in the fenced playground is a smaller toddler double slide, 2 rocking/riding toys (a motorbike with a side car, and a ladybug), a triple see-saw bouncer, and 2 x toddler swings.

This fenced side of the playground also includes 2 x bench seats, plus a table with benches.

....all protected by nice shady mature trees.

The Aa Bailey Recreation Ground side of the playground has 2 swings - one for older kids and one for wheelchairs.

Also there is a pyramid climbing structure with swinging attachments, good for kindy age onwards.

A spinner and a "surfboard" balance apparatus is also included.

Plus a hill with a slide coming down it, next to a stepped rubber climbing hill with a pulley.

Flying fox and more climbing apparatus complete this side.

Note that toilets are about 150-200m away, but they are still easily accessible.

Can't recommend this playground highly enough!

A hidden gem! Only one turn-off from South Road, but quiet enough to hear the birds twittering. Plenty of shady picnic spots from which to watch a cricket match on weekend mornings. Toddlers can explore the fenced area in safety (with supervision) and older kids will enjoy the advanced equipment alongside.

The Pirate Ship is gone! So there is very little left for under fives. I hope they replace it with something else.
