This playground is in the hilly "island" in the landscaping around the Kwinana/Mitchell Fwy interchange, right at the base of the Kings Park escarpment and where Mounts Bay Road meets Riverside Drive, the Narrows Bridge and the Swan River. You can access it via the bike paths (routes to Crawley/UWA, South Perth, Kings Park, Riverside Drive or the Perth CBD) or from a small parking lot (the "John Oldham" parking lot) entered via Mounts Bay Road.

The playground labels itself as best for 4 to 10 year olds. It contains a climbing fort suggestive of a ship, two round-swings, a climbing net merrygoround (yes, you can climb the pyramid and spin at the same time) and a very long slide set into the hill. Most of the surface is sand but some is the rubber-granule-matting. There is some lawn, enough to run in circles on or practice ball skills but not to play a full game. There are benches sporadically along the bike path, there is one barbeque and a picnic table with it. There are no toilets visible from the playground.

There is water present: the area is also a stormwater drainage for the freeway, and this water runs in a small "stream" between the parking lot, Mounts Bay Road and the playground. The stream is not fenced. Lots of waterbird-life is visible in the park and from the little bridge. Beyond the long slide there is a waterfall feature that runs from the top of the mound to the walking path at the bottom, which includes some long drops and some slippery rocks near each drop. Caution in this area is advised by the City of Perth. It is reasonably easy to keep smaller children away from the waterfall area as it involves a long walk up the mound to get to, and the main playground equipment is nowhere near it.

Claim to the longest slide in Perth - it’s a small incline for a long way making it easy for young and older children.
