The Saw Avenue playground has been there for years but was redone in 2009. The new-look playground focuses on natural objects rather than playground equipment, with log bridges, rock piles, tunnels and slopes and swales. There is an insect theme across the playground with giant insects of several kinds carved into the wood, and an interpretive sign explaining about some of the insects in the park. This playground is the location of the historic Jarrah Log, brought to Perth as an example of the young Swan River Colony's first exports. And yes, you can climb on it.

There are toilets (inc. disabled), drinking fountains, barbeques, an amphitheatre, a bookable pavilion and plenty of lawn for picnics or ball games. There is parallel parking along Saw Avenue, and a small parking lot (~20 spaces?) by the toilets. There is no specific shade over the playground but the lawn area is full of shady trees. Most of the climbing things - rock steps, carved logs etc - are of a size best for 3 years and older, although younger children can certainly play on them.
