Homestead Park

Homestead Park is one of the string of riverside parks along the Canning River, connected by bike path. It hosts the Thornlie Community Centre. The playground is south of the community centre and an adult fitness equipment area is north of the community centre. There is plenty of parking along the verge around the park and also in the community centre's carpark. The park meanders down to the river via a long lawn and a couple of informal seasonal wetlands. It's a popular area for walking dogs.

The playground itself is reasonably ordinary: a large sand area with a small amount of simple equipment on it - swings, a small flying fox, a fort. I'd suggest ages 3-10 will get the most out of it. There are covered picnic tables by the car park, and benches at the playground itself. No drinking fountain. I believe there are toilets inside the community centre but I don't know when the centre is open. The playground is partially shaded by large trees.
