Harbour Town Adelaide has recently installed a large shaded playground as part of its move to become the most family friendly shopping centre in South Australia.

The 117 m sq playground – suitable for children aged two to twelve – has been designed to engage, get imaginations flowing and keep children entertained.

“At Harbour Town we strive to cater for the family shopper, and our new playground is an adventure wonderland that will be enjoyed by children for years to come,” Harbour Town Adelaide Marketing Manager Peta Coudraye says.

“It has set a new standard for playgrounds in SA shopping centres and after a day of picking up some great bargains at Harbour Town, parents can let their children play for free while they relax with a cup of coffee.”

The shaded playground features a climbing ring tunnel, cable rope net climber, pommel pole climbers, slippery dip and more and has been built above soft rubber under surfacing.

Harbour Town has also installed play panels in all parents’ rooms and new breastfeeding chairs which have been raised to reduce the height of the arms making feeding more comfortable.

Love the idea of this playground but unfortunately there is only a rope ladder and set of rings leading to the slide making it impossible for toddlers to get to the slide.

A nice idea from the Harbour Town management but it needs to be at least partially fenced. It's too easy for your child to disappear into the crowds, especially when you are watching two at the same time. My kids are only allowed to play on this when I have only one with me - it'd be far too easy to snatch a child here, especially when the shops are busy and crowded. Not alot of toddler friendly equipment either - a bit of a miss in my opinion.
