The fourth opening in the Livvi's Place Inclusive Playground network, Livvi's Place opened on June 26 2011 after many years of council development. The project was championed by Brisbane City Councillor Shayne Sutton in partnership with charity, Touched by Olivia Foundation.

Livvi's Place features: full shade sail coverage, fully fenced, large climbing equipment, super slippery slide that looks like a tongue, the best sandpit, a sway fun glider and much more.

This park is fantastic but the slippery slide that is there is so dangerous. My Mothers Group kids are all 3 years old and one of them went on it and because there are no sides on the slide, he fell off. Luckily he was halfway down and didn't do too much damage, but he did twist his ankle. All the other swings there are made for 2 to 4 year olds and I really don't think this slide should be there. We went to this park because we thought it would be safe and secure for our kids because it has a fence, but I'm not sure if my friends and I will want to go back there due to the slide.

Hi Judy,

I just read your review and wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Livvi's Place Brisbane with us all. I head the charity Touched by Olivia Foundation, and we are behind the creation of the inclusive playspace you visited with your mums group.

I'm so glad that you think Livvi's Place is fantastic! We were very excited to share our vision for a special place where people of all ages and abilities could play together, side by side.

I am sorry to hear that your son hurt his ankle. The slide does have a degree of learned skill involved, or graduated challenge, however it has been installed to Australian standard and this is why there is high quality soft fall flooring around it. This climbing structure and slide were selected to provide challenges so that children of all ages would get greater play experiences from it.

The equipment selection was chosen with an audience of 0 - 80 in mind, with all levels of abilities covered. The basket swing enables carers to sit with and hold children with disability who may have poor upper body control or unable to walk. The Aeroglider is accessible with a wheel chair. The ground is even to enable those with visual impairments or mobility issues ease of access.

The climbing "spider" creates a challenge for high energy children, and is a particular favourite for some with ASD. The fence ensures that littlies and children with autism who may like to wander (or bolt) are safe for the few moments that their carers eyes may be diverted by another childs needs.

More information on the intent of an inclusive playspace can be found here: www.inclusiveplayspace.com.

Thank you again for visiting Livvi's Place!

Bec Ho.
