This is a new and very modern playground with heaps of facilities and currently-innovative play equipment. Suitable for ages 0-15.

Play equipment includes a double flying fox - one normal seat and one bucket seat for smalls/disabled; a sideways-skateboard-rider-thing; a climbing fort with twisted monkey bars, rope ladders, climbing wall and high slide; a construction zone with collaborative sand delivery and dispersal mechanisms; a climbable sound sculpture thing; swings, hammock and little bouncy riders; a mini-merry-go-round on springs. Toddlers, smalls and non-ladder climbers won't be able to use the skater or access the climbing fort, but I'm marking it as toddler-suitable as they may be able to use the bucket seat on the flying fox, the bouncy riders, the basket swing, the construction zone, the digger and other small things placed around about. They will certainly find a bit to do! Older children will find many of the small things around about a bit too small, but should manage fine with the fort, the skater and the flying fox.

The playground is surfaced with a combination of deep white sand and rubber matting, with wide concrete walkways around that can easily accommodate double-strollers. There are several picnic tables under shelters, BBQs, a drinking fountain and extensive shade sails over the play areas (but not the flying fox). Toilets are a very short walk away next to the community centre, fully visible from the play area. Next to the play area there is plenty of green grassy space for running around. Parking is plentiful - there is one parking lot right next to the playground, accessed off Kitchener St, and a second alongside North Beach Road. There is no fence around the playground, just a thick vegetation zone between play space and the parking lot. There are bike paths connecting the playground to the rest of Charles Riley Memorial Reserve.
