Enmore Park is a large, flat, formal garden, with a fair sized playground. It is a bit exposed with no shade or wind breaks, so avoid it on hot or cold days, but it is lovely on sunny winter’s days. There is a huge range of equipment for all ages and some equipment designed especially for children with disabilities. There are enough swinging, bouncing, climbing and jumping activities for even the most active kids. Most of the action is directed towards preschoolers or older. A little further away from the main playground is a rocket slide which looks like a lot of fun, but smaller children lose interest in it pretty fast.

There is a swimming pool within Enmore Park, there are also well shaded BBQs and picnic tables close to the pool.

The problems are a lack of shade, no toilets and no fencing (the roads around here are fairly busy). Parking on Victoria Road (near Leicester St) will deliver you closest to the playground.

My toddler and I visited this park for the first time this afternoon. It was lovely on a late Autumn's afternoon as the sun was setting.

Be aware though that the current playground area is going to be demolished! There are Council notices displayed around the park advising that from Monday 3 May 2010 there will be construction for approximately 12 weeks, weather permitting, while a new playground is built.

Apparently, the Council is going to rebuild the playground area, a bit further into the park and what seems a bit closer to the new swimming pool (which is also currently under construction). The new equipment will be set up around the 'old' tall rocket ship (of playgrounds past) which is still standing, so that should hopefully be fun.

It seems a shame, but is probably a good thing as the astro turf surrounding the current equipment is now looking very tired/ torn, and the big kids' swings are no longer working. I think I read on the Council notice that there will be shade provided in the new area as well.

Stay tuned, hopefully the new equipment will provide a great place to go.
