Alice's Playspace is beautiful. Set in a long, narrow strip between the oval and Main Road East, the playground design makes clever use of the space. The broad brushstrokes show a mountain at one end, with a gradual transition to the dry western plains. A dry creek bed meanders through and connects the two ends with easy grace. The play elements are placed around existing mature trees giving the impression that this playground was always meant to be there. New tree plantings complement the design and will provide shade in the future.

At the western end are the pieces that might appeal to younger kids: swings, spring riders, see-saw, a water pump that pumps water out a frog's mouth, a carousel with access for wheelchairs and prams, squeaky tires and a couple of other musical/tonal elements. The sonic bollard is fascinating - it's a short metal bollard with a bobble top that moves and 'bongs' the edges from the inside. Little bumps spiral their way around the outside making it attractive to touch, look at and play with. There's also a trampoline with walkways criss-crossing through it so an adult can stay within an arm's length.

Several little bridges cross the dry creek bed as you move east. In fact the creek is so long you'll have to hop on the wooden boat and navigate your way along it! You can peer through the telescope and talk through the talking tubes to ensure a safe crossing. We like the way this imaginative play piece sits in the middle of the more active elements.

Towards the 'mountain' are more swings, two lots of wavy slides, spinning egg cups, a pyramid of space balls and of course the flying fox. A wide ramp allows wheelchair access to the flying fox from behind the mountain. The mountain itself is made of rubber turf with a couple of faces covered with 'rocks' to scramble or bound up and down... And up and down and up and down again and again and again!

The whole playground is accessible to everyone, there's plenty of space and plenty of places to rest with chairs and platform benches dotted all through the park.

The playspace is fenced from the street, but not fully enclosed yet. It will be very soon. Hopefully any escapees will head in the direction of the oval rather than the road.

Toilets are around the back of the neighbouring community house. One word of caution: be careful not to lock the doors too hard. They are very hard to unlock again as the locking mechanism seemed very tight and the knob was hard to grip.

Overall, this is another triumph by the Touched By Olivia Foundation and their trusty partners Leighton Contractors. Round of applause goes to sponsors the Commonwealth Bank and especially to the team at Brimbank City Council for creating such a stunning playspace. I imagine this spot will become a wonderful community hub with lots of parties and groups gathering to play.

The final word goes to a mum I overheard: "Did you see the flying fox? We'll be here everyday over summer!"

Livvi's Place at Yamble Reserve was opened with a colourful bang on the 3rd of February 2013. A huge number of partners contributed to the creation of this $1.5M playground, and yes, it looks like $1.5M was spent on it. It is truly stunning.

As in all of the Livvi's Place playgrounds, the equipment is very carefully chosen and laid out to allow for easy accessibility for people of all abilities. That includes young toddlers, older kids, children with different abilities and disabilities, parents, grandparents, friends, everyone! This is a community playground that entices parents to get in there and play WITH their kids, not sit on the sidelines, and there is plenty of room to allow this to happen.

Some of the equipment includes a double flying fox, one with a pommel seat and the other a full seat with a harness; a spinning rope pyramid (seemingly with permanent kids attached as it's hugely popular); a sand play area; wonky mirror; musical and percussion elements; bird's nest swing; spring-rider car and bird; satellite dish spinner and much more.

There is a large network of rubber turf that is most interesting and quite unique. The turf moulds up and down little hills, with one area hiding a tunnel underneath. The bright colours with high contrast assist people with vision impairments and gently direct and inform people as to safe areas and where to go next. I love the lumpy blue hill, although I didn't see many kids using it (I'll just have to go back!). However the yellow hill with the hand-holds down the side and the tunnel underneath was a huge hit with the littlies. This whole area allows for safe exploration for people with limited mobility and easy access for parents and carers.

Another feature that really stands out is the beautiful sculpture. There is an animal theme meandering throughout the playground, with stone sculptures of frogs, possums, owls and many other animals. These are mostly at the quieter, less-busy end of the playground where there is a spiral pathway that circles its way amongst the totem poles and plantings and ends at a 'pole garden'. This is a beautiful area in which to explore, feel and bong the various elements, and admire the artwork.

The playground clearly has busy and quiet areas so kids can retreat if they need to, but still be within the fenced area.

There is a barbecue within Livvi's Place and another in the grassed area of Yamble Reserve. Toilets are down a pathway outside the fenced area. There are many shade sails, but because of the sheer size of the playground, there are still many areas in full sun. The softfall under all play pieces is rubber turf.

A huge round of applause goes to The Touched By Olivia Foundation for bringing this superb playground to life.

They need more shaded areas it's very hot and even on non busy weekends all the shade is taken. Also a cafe would be great as no shop near buy so pack everything!!

Livvi's Place is a lovely inclusive playground at Yamble Reserve for all abilities, and has the benefit of being fenced for those with kids who like to wander. It's best up to the ages of 5/6 years, my older child found it a little boring from around 6 years. Yamble Reserve itself is lovely too, with barbecues and plenty of grassy open space, with a bike track that runs around the park in a figure 8.

This is a limited but interesting playground, most suited to younger kids, but supervision is needed because it is not enclosed and there are lookouts with steep drops not far from the playground. A cafe is in construction next to it, so there will presumably be toilets there in the future. A shaded picnic table area nearby, and further away are walking tracks and a nice boardwalk with ocean views and carpark and grassed area. (Thanks Caroline)

With $3.5million spent this new playground is beautiful - it has slides, multi-level play cubes, climbing structures and a toddler play area with swings and a sand play area have been built within the playground, as well as custom-shade structures.

Huge wooden adventure playground which is well worth the visit. It has plenty of ramps, ladders, various walkways, tunnel slides, monkey bars, monkey rung, flying fox, various swings, climbing walls, lookouts and balance beams.

Two huge shelters with plenty of tables, unshaded and shaded seats and tables, water tap, toilets and BBQs. Liberty swings.

Right next to the Sports club which is also a great spot for a meal.

Our two year old had a blast at this playground. Lots of swings for toddlers and bigger kids and a huge fort-like structure to run around with a couple of slides as well.

(They ask for a gold coin donation to enter playground).

This park has the southern hemisphere's tallest rope climbing frame (I think), gym equipment, flying fox, very modern play equipment for young teenagers, older teenagers and adults. A fully fenced toddler play area with a sandpit. And a water play area operated by a button. There are also a few BBQs and tables. Highly recommended!!!

The playground offers a huge range of equipment for all abilities and age ranges. The soft fall in different areas are sand and rubber. There are 2 slides that run down the side of a man-made hill. A concrete sandcastle as been made that children can climb on, over, through as well as having wheelchair access. The sandpit area is located off to the side of this giant sandcastle. There are 2 sitting flying foxes, swings, a giant submarine, climbing nets, and a sway boat. There are also grass areas for children to run around on all within this fenced off play area.

The playground is right on the foreshore. There is street car parking in front of the playground but this also services the surrounding shops, surf club, beaches etc so at peak times it can be difficult to find close car parking. So take your pram in case you need to park in a side street.

This playground is right on the foreshore at Burleigh Beach. It has a strong surf/beach theme with most of the equipment shaped in surf items eg a thong spring rocker, surf board rock climbing wall, giant sunglasses mirrors etc. The soft fall is sand and has swings, slides and suspension bridge.

Love this park! Mixed areas with shade sails and trees for shading on most equipment. Designated toddler area and high playground with massive slides. Good mix of climbing area and slides for little ones. There are swings and a floor trampoline, and a water play area with pump. Some teens were even using the high equipment for parkour! Nice grassy area with covered tables, one BBQ but there is also a few takeaway/general store across the road. Some toilets had baby change signs but I didn't get to check them out. Right next to Miriam Vale Station, could even chance a train going through.
